Greetings everyone and welcome to Spring… well almost… It still managed to snow here in New York on the very 1st day of Spring! And even yesterday, we had a few flakes in the morning… Everyone is “itching” to get outdoors again after months and months of cold, uninviting and miserable weather.

Events are starting to appear again on the calendars – including my own upcoming presentation for the Washington, DC Chapter of ASMP on Tuesday, April 7th!  So if you are in the neighborhood – we would love to see you there.

And, I will be holding one-on-one consultations the very next day Wednesday, April 8th.  I will also be offering a special discount to ASMP and Association members and event attendees! Here are some of the details:

The topic:

These days it’s quite common for photographers to be promoting to and working in multiple markets in order to maximize their exposure and their earning potential. And since you’re working hard on expanding your brand and income, is there a right or a wrong way to approach each different market, or can your ‘brand’ simply speak for itself?

Continuing on from the successes of her previous panels, Louisa invites you to hear all of the must-have and key tips when it comes to managing multiple markets, websites, and creating appropriate marketing plans. Whether you’re a commercial photographer looking to cross over into fine art, or an editorial photographer who wants to shoot weddings, or whatever areas you’re looking to expand into, this discussion is for everybody!

Eyeist – affordable portfolio reviews and why it's a "good" idea!

Some of you may recall I mentioned this wonderful new portfolio service Eyeist when they launched a couple of months ago headed up by Allegra Wilde, along with Jesse & Micah Diamond – and as we’re heading towards the end of the year, it’s a great time to get some feedback on your work in preparation for the new year. For my own existing Chatterbox clients, don’t forget you can always book a session on Eyeist with me as your reviewer, in addition to any of our other consulting or marketing sessions.

I recently posted a new “testimonial” on my Eyeist Reviewer Profile from New York-based photographer Paul B. Goode, whom I saw recently at the ASMP NY commercial portfolio reviews. This testimonial is a beautiful example of why I do what I do – this kind of feedback warms my heart and makes it all worthwhile! To read the full and very flattering journal entry “The Decisive Moment” that Paul wrote following that evening – please click here.

Whether you shoot advertising, editorial, fine art or weddings, your Web site is one of the most important tools for showcasing your work and visual brand. If it’s annoying or difficult to navigate, potential clients will move on to the next. “Is it all about the images, or does my branding really matter?” you may ask. “How do I separate myself from the crowd?”

This dynamic panel of advertising and editorial photo buyers will offer valuable insights and discussion points about what makes a successful Web site to help refine your brand, streamline your promotions and take your Internet presence to a higher level. Panelists will share their self-promotional do’s and don’ts and weigh in on new and buzzworthy ways to “sell” yourself through social networks.

The discussion will culminate with a “live critique” using the Web sites of willing audience members—this is your chance to get candid, constructive feedback on your own site!
